Welcome

Welcome to the Cookeville History Museum

The Cookeville History Museum provides exhibits, programs and activities that promote the history of Cookeville and Putnam County. The museum houses a self-paced, permanent exhibit on the history of this community, including a timeline around the building that begins with the first people to the area and ends with what is happening today. The front gallery is dedicated to local history exhibits, traveling exhibits and collection displays. Visit the Cookeville History Museum and let us share our story with you!

This year, Storyfest in the Park will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016 from
9:30 am until 5:30 pm. Headliners slated to appear are comedian, speaker,
storyteller and writer Charlie McCoin; Faye Wooden of the Jonesborough Storytellers
Guild; Bill Landry of The Heartland Series, shown on WBIR in Knoxville for the past
27 years; and Tim Lowry, a great talent from Summerville, SC. Between stories from
fabulous traveling artists, locals Suellen Alfred & Joyce Tatum and music from Matt Beal
will also be featured.

Storyfest in the Park takes place in Dogwood Park in a large tent directly behind the

Cookeville History Museum. We at the Cookeville Museums feel the art of storytelling

goes hand in hand with history, athe oral component of passing down our stories is

crucial to retaining our collective narrative as a community, a culture, a region and a nation.

The staff of the Cookeville History Museum, a division of the City of Cookeville

Department of Leisure Services, is excited to present this event for its third year,

free of charge to area families!
